THE ACADEMY
We offer a select number of riding lesson spots each semester, for students without their own horse. Our program promotes a calm, supportive environment while emphasizing safety, horsemanship and empathy for the horse.
We believe that working consistently with the same coach and horse helps students build confidence, develop meaningful connections and fully enjoy their journey into the incredible world of horses.
Whether you want to explore the Southlands community on horseback for enjoyment or work towards competing one day, we will tailor a program to suit your individual goals and help you achieve them.
ACADEMY FOUNDATION PROGRAM
The Riding Academy is designed primarily for riders of all ages in the foundation stages of their riding journey.
Our focus is not simply on teaching students to ride, but on helping them develop:
Confidence
Safe riding habits
Effective communication with the horse
Horse care knowledge
Groundwork and horsemanship skills
An understanding of horse behaviour
Independent riding skills
Respect and empathy for the horse
What's Included
A horse provided for all scheduled lessons
One-hour private sessions
A combination of riding and groundwork/horsemanship
Progressive instruction tailored to the student's ability and goals
Development of riding skills, confidence and horse-care knowledge

$250 + GST per lesson only available as part of a seasonal package.
JUNIOR ACADEMY PROGRAM
A First Step into the World of Ponies
The Junior Riding Academy is designed for young pony lovers who are beginning their journey around ponies and horses.
This gentle introduction provides a safe and nurturing environment where children can develop confidence, learn foundational safety and begin to feel comfortable both on and off the pony.
What Your Child Will Experience
Each session balances learning, movement and fun.
Meet and build a relationship with a friendly, carefully selected pony
Learn basic horse safety and awareness
Practice gentle grooming and care routines
Develop balance and basic riding position
Build confidence through calm, supported interaction
Learn how to approach, lead and interact with a pony appropriately
The session includes both on-pony and off-pony learning to create a well-rounded first experience.

Age: 4–6 years
Investment:$150 + GST per lesson only available as part of a seasonal package.

The Academy is offered through seasonal packages:

Summer 8 weeks
Cancellation Policy
One cancelled or rescheduled lesson by the student will be offered per session.
The lesson must be cancelled or rescheduled with a minimum of 24 hours' notice.
If Town & Country Equestrian cancels a lesson, a credit, refund or reschedule will be offered.
When weather is unsuitable or unsafe for riding the lesson will take place in the stable or on the mechanical horse.
